Handmade Steens® Ceramic Mug

US $16.99

With an earthy design and natural glazed finish, the Steens handmade ceramic mugs are an ode to Sheryl Steens’ passion for making things from the earth. Sheryl’s studio in the Steens' home in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, contains a clay wheel where she spends hours creating natural forms from clay, and her passion for all things natural becomes artwork through her hands.

The Steens mugs are beautiful to drink your favourite tea, matcha or coffee from, and come with a commemorative signed certificate from Paul and Sheryl to celebrate 40 years of Steens® Honey. All packed in a card box finished with metallic accents, making the perfect gift to go with a jar of raw manuka honey and a handmade wooden Honey spoon.

understanding the difference

RAW & UNPASTEURIZED

The true meaning of raw honey, is the lack of heat and fine filters being used in the process of removing the honey from the comb. Our patented method of extracting the honey from the comb, means we don't need to heat the honey or use fine filters. This provides a deliciously rich, textural honey, full of naturally occurring bio-available bee bread, pollen and wax particles and allows melt-in-your-mouth honey crystals to form.

TAKING A STAND

ETHICAL BEEKEEPING

We work closely with our land partners to ensure relationships are fair and ethical. All our hives are regularly checked to ensure the health of the hive and the bees, and our bee swarms flourish year after year. In winter months, when the bees are hibernating, we ensure they are well fed, and can get the rest they need at the end of their peak season of gathering pollen and nectar from the New Zealand Flora.

our journey

TO SUSTAINABILITY

With the earth being such an important focus for us as part of our ethos, we have a huge focus on keeping things natural, unadulterated and raw. Our packaging is made from recycled, recyclable materials, and we work hard to collaborate with eco-friendly brands. Honey is a renewable resource, and because we own our own hives, we are incredibly careful when it comes to nurturing our bees and our honey supply.

OUR EXPERIENCE

40 YEARS OF BEEKEEPING

We are the beekeepers, the harvesters, the bottlers, the designers, do-ers, thinkers and everything in-between. We don't buy our honey, we nurture our bees while they create it. All our honey is bottled and labelled in New Zealand. It all started with Paul and Sheryl Steens' love for bees, natural resources and of course, raw honey.
