Pumpkin spice lattes, pies, and candles are just a few of the seasonal delights that capture the essence of fall. But for those who want to savor this cozy flavor every day while also nourishing their bodies, Pumpkin Spice Granola offers the perfect solution. This granola combines the beloved taste of pumpkin spice with a nutritious breakfast option that’s easy to make and enjoy every morning.
The Nutritional Benefits of Pumpkin Spice Granola
Granola has long been a staple in healthy diets, known for its high fiber content, versatility, and ability to keep you full and satisfied. When infused with the flavors of pumpkin spice, granola becomes a seasonal treat that’s not only tasty but also packed with nutrients.
Rich in Fiber: One of the standout benefits of granola is its high fiber content. Made from oats, nuts, seeds, and sometimes dried fruits, granola provides a significant amount of dietary fiber. Fiber is essential for digestive health, helping to regulate digestion, prevent constipation, and keep you feeling full longer. A diet rich in fiber can also support heart health by helping to lower cholesterol levels.
Packed with Antioxidants: The ingredients commonly found in granola, such as oats, nuts, and seeds, are rich in antioxidants. These compounds help protect the body from oxidative stress and inflammation, which can contribute to chronic diseases. Pumpkin spice granola, particularly when made with ingredients like pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, and nutmeg, adds an extra layer of antioxidant power, making it a great choice for supporting overall wellness.
Source of Healthy Fats: Nuts and seeds, often included in granola recipes, are excellent sources of healthy fats. These fats are crucial for brain health, reducing inflammation, and providing long-lasting energy. The presence of healthy fats in granola also makes it more satiating, helping to curb hunger and prevent overeating throughout the day.
Low in Added Sugars: One of the key benefits of making your own Pumpkin Spice Granola is the ability to control the amount of sugar. Store-bought granola can often be high in added sugars, which can negate some of the health benefits. By preparing your own, you can use natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup and keep the sugar content low, making it a healthier option for daily consumption.
The Flavor of Pumpkin Spice Granola
The flavor of Pumpkin Spice Granola is what truly sets it apart and makes it a perfect addition to your fall mornings. The warm, aromatic spices that define pumpkin spice—cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves—create a comforting and nostalgic flavor that evokes the essence of the season.
Warm and Spicy: The blend of spices used in Pumpkin Spice Granola offers a warm, slightly spicy taste that’s balanced by the natural sweetness of the oats and any added sweeteners. Cinnamon provides a sweet and woody flavor, nutmeg adds a hint of earthiness, ginger brings a mild spiciness, and cloves offer a pungent, almost peppery note. Together, these spices create a symphony of flavors that’s both comforting and invigorating.
Naturally Sweetened: When making Pumpkin Spice Granola, you have the option to sweeten it with natural ingredients like honey, maple syrup, or even a bit of pureed pumpkin. These natural sweeteners not only enhance the flavor but also add moisture and help the granola form those delicious clusters that are so satisfying to bite into.
Crunchy and Satisfying: One of the most enjoyable aspects of granola is its crunchy texture. The combination of oats, nuts, and seeds toasted to golden perfection creates a satisfying crunch that pairs wonderfully with the soft, creamy texture of yogurt or the smoothness of milk. Each bite of Pumpkin Spice Granola is a sensory experience, combining the crunch of the ingredients with the warm, spiced flavor profile.

Pumpkin Spice Granola is not just a seasonal treat; it’s a versatile breakfast option that can be enjoyed every day throughout the fall and beyond. - 1/8 tsp salt
- 2 large egg whites, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/2 cup raw Maunka honey (we used MGO 85+)
- 3 tbsp dark brown sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup dried cranberries
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Line two large baking sheets with silicone baking mats or parchment paper. Set aside. In a large bowl, stir the oats, pepitas, pecans, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and salt together until combined. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk the egg whites for about 1 minute. Then whisk in the melted coconut oil, pumpkin puree, manuka honey, brown sugar, and vanilla until smooth and combined. Pour over dry ingredients and mix until everything is moistened.Spread mixture out onto prepared baking sheets and bake each batch for 40 minutes, making sure to stir the granola every 10–15 minutes to prevent burning.
Allow granola to cool for 20 minutes on the baking sheets.
Granola gets crunchier as it cools. Pour into a large bowl and stir in the dried cranberries. Cover tightly and store at room temperature for up to 3 weeks. Granola will lose its crunch over time because of the wet pumpkin.
