One Sweet Day with @theskinnydoughnut

In our series of journal entries, we follow six people through their daily routine. Foodies, beauty lovers, bakers, healthy living fans, there is inspiration for everyone! With insights into how Steens Manuka Honey fits into their daily routine, we get to see how it benefits them in a number of ways – some more surprising than others! We will introduce a new person each week, so make sure you follow along.

I'm Evie Mae, a nutritionist, food blogger & hospitality worker from the UK. I have a passion for food and creating nourishing, healthy recipes, as well as keeping my body moving whether that be through weight training in the gym, long weekend walks in the countryside or through stretching my body in a yoga class. I love to travel & explore new places, making sure to search out foodie hotspots wherever I go. My aspiration is to eventually set up my own brunch cafe so that I am able to share the nourishing dishes I love with my family, friends and following.

6:30am | wake up, slippers on and make my bed. I think it is super important to have a clean space when you're working from home so I make sure my room is a clean, positive space to work in every morning before I do anything!

7:00am | coffee ASAP. I have started to add Manuka honey to my coffee instead of artificial sweetener / syrups, as this was something I wanted to reduce in my diet for along time in order to help boost my gut health. The sweetness is there and I have to sayI haven't been missing adding anything artificial!

7:30am | make breakfast. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day & I switch it up quite a lot but it is usually a sweet start the day. This morning I decided to have a summeryManuka yogurt & fresh berry topped toast. This is super easy & quick to make in the morning, so it is perfect if you are tight for time!

8:00am | I like to get some steps in before I start my day so I usually get this done in the morning before I start scheduling my day and start on whatever work I need to complete. My work is very variable which I love, some days I have cafe shifts and other days I have content to film or marketing projects to work on so it changes up a lot!

12:30pm | a break from content creating to have some lunch. This day I made turkish eggs topped with pomegranate, coriander & a side of tiger bread to soak up all of the goodness.

4:00pm | I got ready for the gym and headed out for an upper body session.

5:30pm | Back from the gym! and time for a nourishing snack before dinner. I made a super green smoothie, naturally sweetened with squeezy manuka honey. Packed with fibre, probiotics and antioxidants. I love to add vegetables to my smoothies so it's not a massive sugar rush, as well as adding kefir to support my gut health

7:00pm | Time for dinner. I made some quick and easy fish tacos with baby jem, pickled red onion & tartare sauce. This is definitely an English take on a Mexican classic, but super delicious all the same & so easy to prepare.

7:30pm | Wind down time. A hot bubble bath & time to relax down for the night.

9:00pm | I am a big reader and have found reading instead of watching TV really helps me settle & be able to sleep better

I love Steens Manuka honey because the flavour it adds to any dish is unmatched & I love how I can use it to sweeten my dishes knowing that it is not only delicious but that it is also providing benefits to my health. I have now been able to reduce artificial sweeteners in my diet through substituting them with Manuka honey, which is something I have been wanting to do for a long time and has been one of my hardest dietary habits to abstain from. My goal to reduce artificial sweeteners stemmed from the fact that in all other areas of my diet I eat very little processed food. I also believe that artificial sweeteners have had negative implications on my gut health, so this was another reason I wanted to reduce my intake of them and Manuka honey was that perfect substitute for me as it not only provides that sweetness I crave but also provides the digestive support I need.Manuka is such a versatile ingredient and can be easily incorporated into so many of my sweet and savoury meals/drinks to add that extra sweetness without having to use refined sugars or sweeteners.
